• Full-time / Part-time Ph.D. in any of the above Metallurgical disciplines.

Note: Qualifications obtained through Distance/Correspondence/Part-time (except Ph.D.) are not eligible.

Post Qualification Experience Required

Candidates must have:

• Minimum 5 years post-Ph.D. experience in Metallurgical Engineering-related work.
• Experience will be counted after completion of Ph.D.

Relevant Experience Includes:

• Metallurgical testing (metallic & non-metallic)
• Material characterization
• Failure investigation
• R&D in aerospace materials
• Working in laboratories accredited by:
  • ISO 17025
  • NADCAP
  • AS9100
  • ISO 9001
• Experience in NIRF-ranked institutes or Govt/Private R&D labs.

Skills & Expertise Required

• Hands-on metallography: optical microscopy, image analysis, micro-hardness, grain size, inclusion rating.
• Experience in Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and fractography.
• Knowledge of mechanical testing: Tensile, Fatigue, Creep, Stress Rupture, Fracture Toughness.
• Technical report writing and presentation skills.
• Understanding of lab accreditations like NABL, ISO/AS9100, NADCAP.

HAL Manager (Lab) – Age Limit (As on 30.11.2025)

• Maximum Age: 38 years
• Age relaxation:
  • J&K domicile (1980–1989): +5 years
  • No age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS for this UR post.

• Grade IV Pay Scale: Rs. 60,000 – 1,80,000 (2017 scale)
• Annual Increment: 3%
