Junior Research Fellow Vacancy at IIT Tirupati – NHAI Sponsored Project (Advt. No.: IITT/CSRC/25-26/36)

IIT Tirupati, in collaboration with CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSRC), IIT Palakkad, and NIT Rourkela, invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a prestigious National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), New Delhi sponsored project. This is a temporary research position with an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge infrastructure research related to asphalt-rubber pavement systems.

The project focuses on innovative pavement materials, roadway construction, performance monitoring, and advanced materials characterization techniques, providing the selected candidate an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge civil engineering research.


Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must meet any one of the following criteria:

  1. B.Tech in Civil Engineering with First Class and a valid GATE qualification, or
  2. M.E./M.Tech in Civil Engineering with First Class at both graduate and postgraduate levels from a recognized university or equivalent.

Desired Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Knowledge in interdisciplinary civil & infrastructure engineering, including:
    • Innovative pavement materials (asphalt-rubber, polymers, fibers)
    • Advanced materials characterization (asphalt binder rheology, FTIR, XRD, SEM, DSC)
    • Roadway construction and quality control
    • Vehicle-pavement interaction and pavement condition assessment
    • Numerical modeling and analysis
  • Ability to mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking, innovative outlook, and scientific research planning
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and construction monitoring

Age Limit

  • 30 years (relaxable for exceptional candidates)
