DRDO Young Scientist Laboratory – Artificial Intelligence (DYSL-AI) is at the forefront of AI research in defence applications. The lab focuses on accelerating the adoption of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, and Reinforcement Learning to build early-stage, high-impact solutions for national security.
DYSL-AI works closely with IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIITs, and other premier academic institutions.

- Tenure:
- First 2 years as JRF
- Extended as Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for the remaining 2–3 years, subject to satisfactory performance and DRDO rules
? Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualification
Candidates must satisfy any one of the following:
- B.E / B.Tech (First Division) in a professional course
OR
- M.E / M.Tech (First Division)
- First Division in both Graduate & Post-Graduate level
OR
- Post-Graduate Degree in Basic Science (First Division)
? Desirable Qualifications & Skills
Candidates with the following expertise will be preferred:
- Strong fundamentals in:
- Problem solving
- Algorithm design
- Complexity analysis
- Proficiency in Python, C++, Java or similar languages
- Knowledge of:
- Classical AI algorithms
- Machine Learning & Deep Learning
- Experience with frameworks:
- PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, TensorRT, PyTorch Mobile
Specialized Knowledge (Any One)
- NLP, Speech Recognition, Language Understanding, Machine Translation
- 3D Vision, SLAM, ROS
- Computer Vision & Generative Models
- Reinforcement Learning

- JRF Stipend: ?37,000 per month
